Excuses seem to be the order of the day. And the sad part is most people feel excuses are justification for their stagnant state of affairs. The following are the 4 most commonly cited.
People with kids will tell you that it is difficult to balance looking after children and finding time to work on their dreams. Honestly, this is a cop out. Put another way, you are essentially blaming your kids for your crappy life.
But here’s another perspective. By going after your dreams, you are teaching your children to do the same. They will emulate you. What a great legacy to leave behind. So stop using your children as an excuse. Instead, be the blueprint for them to follow.
2: Not Enough Money
I hate to break it to you this way, but money should NEVER be a hindrance to you not going after your dreams. Resources are all around you if you look hard enough. From my observation, the people who buy into the lack of money excuse also seem to have issues with managing their finances. So I ask, is lack of money the real problem? From where I sit, the major culprit is you.
You have bad spending habits, which leads to you having insufficient funds to invest in yourself. Investing in yourself should always be your top priority.
There are those who think they are either too old or too young to get started. This is b.s., and you know it. Great things have been accomplished by people who were in the latter stages of life, as well as those fresh from the womb. Your problem is simply your reluctance to take the first step. And so you tell yourself that your age is a deterrent.
4: Not Enough Know-How
You think you lack the necessary knowledge and are ready to throw in the towel. Again, this is a cop out. I can assure you that anything you want to be, do or have, someone else has become, done or achieved it. Not only that, they have probably recorded / documented how they did it too. All you have to do is to find – does not have to be physically – that individual and learn from him or her. And just like that, this excuse is incinerated.
